Eriko sat alone in her small apartment, staring blankly out the window as rain tapped against the glass. Memories flooded back to her like a tidal wave, memories of a life once filled with love and happiness now replaced by an overwhelming sense of regret and guilt. She clutched onto her chest, trying to suppress the pain that threatened to consume her whole being.
It all started when her husband passed away unexpectedly. Eriko was left to raise their teenage son, Rigidity, on her own. But it wasn’t long before Rigidity began acting differently. He became distant, uncommunicative, and refused to talk about what was bothering him. At first, Eriko assumed it was just typical teenager behavior, but then she discovered the truth.
Rigidity had found out about his father’s affair. The man whom Eriko thought she could trust had betrayed them both, leaving behind a trail of devastation in his wake. In response, Rigidity vowed to make things right. “I’ll take the place of my dad,” he said, his voice barely audible over the sound of thunder outside.
