I was hesitant about the idea, but my wife, Mio, had her heart set on joining a gym where she could do boxing to maintain her figure. She had been nagging me about it for weeks, and I finally caved in. I wasn’t really into fitness, but I wanted to try out the new video camera I had recently bought, so I agreed to go with her. Little did I know, this decision would lead to one of the most awkward moments of my life.
The gym was run by a real black former professional boxer. I was intimidated by his muscular frame and tough demeanor, but my wife seemed to be in good hands. As I stood by the side, fiddling with my camera, I couldn’t help but feel a little out of place.
