I was never one to understand the afternoon feeling, but I knew it was a real thing. It was that feeling of calmness that could only be felt after a hearty meal. It was the feeling of the sun kissing your skin and the cool breeze blowing through your hair. And it was also the feeling of indulging in a delicious saffle, that melt-in-your-mouth combination of a scone and a waffle, with a cup of hot tea. But what made that afternoon feeling even more special was the company of my dear friend Kanako Kase.
Kanako and I had been friends since we were kids. We grew up together in the small town of Ashford, and our friendship had only grown stronger over the years.
