It was a Saturday night and my husband and I were sitting at home, just the two of us. We had been married for a few years now, but we didn’t have many opportunities to spend time together. He had been working long hours lately and I had been too busy with my own career.
I had an idea. I knew that my husband liked to dance, and I thought that maybe we could take a class together. I did some research and found a local dance studio that offered ballroom lessons. I called them up and made an appointment for us to go check it out.
When we arrived at the studio, we were greeted by the owner, Hirai. She was a tall, slender woman with long black hair and a warm smile. She led us to a room where there were several other couples already taking lessons.
