The day of Koji’s funeral, Misaki’s world came crashing down around her. She was overwhelmed with grief, but there was something else nagging at her. She felt like something was missing, like there was an empty spot in her heart that could only be filled by Koji.
As she stood there, surrounded by family and friends, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned to see Yuta, Koji’s stepson, standing there. “Instead of my father, is it useless for me?” he asked, his voice breaking.
Misaki was surprised by Yuta’s words. She had never realized that Koji’s death was a loss for him as well. She had always seen him as a reminder of the life Koji had lost.
